A Long Love Affair with Nature and Montessori Education
Our Story
Leet Mueller is the founder of NatureTot. She is an AMI trained and experienced Montessori educator, and has worked with the child under six over the past two decades. She grew up in a very remote community in the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia, in a little one room cabin with homesteading parents. Leet now lives in Whitehorse Yukon, where there is wilderness all around the urban centre, yet she observes that the child under six is often isolated from nature. She wants to help make it easier for the Montessori educator to prepare their nature environment, so that all children, regardless of their access to nature outside, have more opportunities to connect to the natural world.
Special Thanks
I would like to acknowledge the educators who have played a special role
in the development of NatureTot, including Mari Glynn Morris, Julia Kim, Laurie Parker, and Mary Ann Annable, among others, including Eline Huisken and Michelle Graye for the feedback and photo opportunities.
I am deeply grateful to these funders who helped make NatureTot a reality:
